Briess is the original American Craft Maltster, the first malting company to supply pioneer craft brewers with specialty malts produced and packaged just for them. We remain committed to American Craft Beer, continually researching and introducing new malts and services tailored to the small-scale production of craft beer.
Briess was the first malting company to introduce a line of American specialty malts, malt extracts and raw flours for artisan distillers for the production of authentic American whiskey and spirits. Third party research for Briess identified the optimum grind profile for maximum yield of raw grains in distilling. Ongoing sensory continues to identify flavor contributions of specialty malts to whiskey and other spirits, providing artisan distillers with creative options for developing their signature flavor.
Food & Beverage
In the 1890s, second-generation Rudolf Briess began supplying a malted barley flour ingredient—Maltoferm—to European bakers. In the 1980s fourth-generation Roger Briess re-introduced the brand as a pure malt extract for bakery and food manufacturers. Today, Briess offers an extensive portfolio of malt and other natural, specialty ingredients for food and beverage products.
For decades our furry friends have been enjoying dry kibble and treats made with a variety of Briess natural, specialty ingredients. Briess ingredients deliver flavor with the added benefit of natural hue adjustment, and they’re AAFCO compliant, GRAS, non-GMO and made in the U.S.A.
